Emma's Little Kitchen

Welcome to Emma’s Little Kitchen!

I’m Emma, and I’m so happy you dropped by.

About ELK

A blog dedicated to vegetarian recipes that focus on seasonal produce, whole grains, and minimally processed ingredients.

I believe in simple and delicious food that will nourish you, and keep you happy and healthy. There is nothing I love more than pottering about in the kitchen, but I’m a busy girl (and I know you are too!) so I like to keep my recipes approachable, flexible, and fuss free. Wholesome food should be fun and delicious, not a chore! I also believe that no human should go without the odd slice of cake, so you will also find recipes for healthier bakes and desserts too.

About Emma

Born and bred in the UK, I moved to the USA in 2010 to marry my handsome Michigander husband Kirk. We are now living in the humid climes of Houston with our son James, and pup Dexter.

When I’m not in my kitchen, I can be found running obscenely long distances, or drinking wine in the bubble bath.

Lets Be Friends!

The BEST thing about blogging is connecting with lovely folk from all over the world. Please do stop by and say HEY on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook. See the recipes I want to make, and the crafts I will never make on Pinterest. You can also email me too, I’d love to hear from you!

  • Tacos look great. WE are the tempeh pioneers way back in the mid 80’s. We produced Betsy’s Tempeh for 9 1/2 years and Grand Rapids was one of the areas where we had our product for sale. Since retiring we set up our website showing our easy method for making tempeh at home:makethebesttempeh.org
We recently filed a patent for a tempeh incubator that chefs could use as well as small shops making artisan tempeh for the local community.
Check out the website for TempehSure.com for more information and feel free to send them any comments or questions you might have.
Also, if you have any questions for us, please feel free to write. We welcome any and all comments.

  • Hello there, Emma! You have a lovely website!
I just wanted to let you know that I followed you on social media, but some of your buttons (Instagram, Tweeter and email) on your home page are not working. I couldn’t find any other place to let you know, so I am writing in a comment. Feel free to delete this comment once you read it, don’t want to mess your beautiful page and all good comments here.

  • I knew you weren’t American because it’s never been a common name here in the states. I have an Emma who is turning 30 soon, and it’s my favorite name, except for Sara, who is my older daughter. She was born in Houston! Describing its “humid climes” is an understatement!!! But very polite. Emma lived in London for four years and it was so lovely to visit her and discover not only London (which is now my favorite city) as well as the rest of England. You must really miss that climate!!!

  • Hi , Emma your cousin Karen put me on to you while I was feeding her little girl Hope my home made 2 ingredient oat and banana cookies so she is starting young. I like your site!
